HOW WE CAN HELP
Imagine you are on a beach at sunset.
Our service delivery considers that same holistic picture. The individual person may need legal help for their individual circumstances and we can give that through legal advice, support and representation.
The land the person is on, in this case, the sand, is the education we can give. Education in communities can provide grounding for many individuals.
In the background of all of this is the sunset, nature, the setting, the weather. All of this can affect the individual’s experience of the beach. We know that legal systems were not created for or by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women. Therefore, we aim to hold systems accountable and influence policy and the law to create a better environment for our Communities.
LEGAL HELP
Our Legal team consists of lawyers, paralegals and client support to give you quality legal help. Child protection, domestic violence and family law are our priority areas. We give legal information and advice, court representation, host legal clinics and do other discrete tasks.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION
Our Community and Legal teams collaborate to provide community info sessions and community legal education for community members or other stakeholders. Sharing knowledge is an important part of our work.
HOLD SYSTEMS TO ACCOUNT
Our whole team are committed to influencing laws and policies that actively work against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and their children. We can make submissions, write letters, participate in research projects, campaigns, and more.
WHY CHOOSE US?
We aim to create a working environment and a service environment that is free from any kind of racism and discrimination. We retain a high percentage of First Nations staff because we believe that ‘by mob, for mob’ matters and we work closely with our allies to increase our influence and to ensure culturally grounded service delivery.
